I’m Mickie Zada. I’m glad you’re here!

Surviving Abuse Network is my passion and mission
because I am a domestic abuse survivor, too.
I experienced emotional, financial and physical abuse.
Domestic abuse is real and we don’t have to live with it!

I love the life I’ve created!

It’s interesting how our minds work! I chose to stay in a damaging relationship for so long because I thought it was my Calling.  I believed it was my responsibility to keep my husband between the lines. I was wrong.

While living in abuse, for decades I didn’t recognize myself as an abused spouse. I was not threatened with weapons, was not hospitalized, never called law enforcement and did not file a restraining order against my husband.

I was the strong one, the grounded one, the dedicated wife.
I was in love.

When I left, I wondered (like nearly every abuse survivor) whether I was really abused. So many years were invested in protecting my abuser that I felt guilty defending myself by leaving.

Grandsons and tie-dye…
Great fun!

A journey of personal growth changed me. I am now an enthusiastic participant in my Authentic Life…my safe and healthy life!

The words I am are potent words; be careful what you hitch them to. The thing you’re claiming has a way of reaching back and claiming you. ~ A.L. Kitselman
